Ellen is a happily married 41-year old mom who chases after her 7-year old son and a 4-year old daughter. Originally from the Jersey Shore and a Rutgers College graduate, Ellen has been in CT since 1994 to complete her graduate work at UCONN.
Obesity was Ellen’s reality for a long time. After traditional dieting failed, Ellen faced the reality that only a permanent lifestyle change would get her into shape. This pivotal moment helped her shed an amazing 70 pounds. Now she doesn’t look back at her childhood years wistfully, because she’s in the best shape and health of her life.
This comes at a cost. Waking up at 5 am before the kiddos do, Ellen’s exercise runs the gamut from yoga to interval weight training to running to hula hooping! Not one to slack, Ellen turns her desk job into action by walking 2 miles during her lunch break. As a way to survive the expense of having 2 children, Ellen’s family made a decision to stop eating out which resulted in much creativity in cooking delicious low fat and healthy meals that her entire family enjoys, except her very finicky daughter.
As a result of this change in her family’s lifestyle, Ellen’s husband joined her and lost an amazing 50 pounds along the way! Their entire dating life has changed when they discovered their love for dancing to live music instead of eating out in restaurants.
