Its official- Matt and I are expecting! We thought it could happen, but not so soon!
We are expecting to be invited to all of our friends children’s weddings!
It has already started! The first wedding as the parents friends came in the mail last week! It was so exciting to open the invitation! The joy I felt for these young love birds, about to join as one.
Then, it became a strange feeling. The feeling of… shit! All our friends are done getting married, hell, a few are already headed into divorce or their second marriage! There was a time when Matt and I had, like, 3 or maybe 4 weddings a year to attend or be in. Now we are the guest of the “Bride’s side”! This realization shouldn’t be so shocking, considering we are “adulting” into a new stage in our lives.
I’ve always had fun with the parent’s friends at weddings. They are always willing to dance, drink enough for a couple of people, and declare how they wish they had our energy and youth.
This is the part that is shocking to me!
Fact is, I can drink with the best of them! I have horrible dance moves, but I’m always on the dance floor (probably a result of the adult beverages). I also still feel like I’m in my late twenties! Seeing myself on the other side of the spectrum is making my back and feet hurt, and putting my sex life into crisis! (well I mean..three kids did that)..but still it’s making me feel older than I personally feel!
I will embrace this new title I have grown into. I will enhance my abilities to preserve my youth, and I will find balance in realizing that yes, time does “make us bolder, even children grow older and I’m getting older too”.
If you need me on January 7, 2017, you can find me giggling (and jiggling) on the dance floor! Celebrating Samantha Segar and her new husband to be! And my new title as “Friends of the Bride’s side”.
