I did it. I convinced my husband that our children needed pets! I convinced my husband that our boys would really benefit from having the responsibility, yet he was solid in his decision, that they had plenty of responsibility. He said they “are just fine“. He said “if we get a bunny, they are not gonna clean the cage, I will” He said “It will just be another chore we don’t have time and energy for, it’s just more shit I’ll have to clean up”.
(He said the same thing when I confirmed we were having our third baby).
Me being me, couldn’t let the conversation stop there. Nope, I had to get him convinced that a bunny would be a great place to start! That they are friendly, soft, and have the potential to be house broken. (I will not be doing this, I am currently potty training my fast growing toddler). Regardless, I was able to come up with so many twinkling eye expressions, I got what I wanted! He agreed we could get ONE (singular) bunny, so naturally I came home with TWO!
This kind of thing happens all the time around my house! My husband (who is convinced he is the boss of the house) always gives in. I get what I want, and he pays dearly for it!
There was the one time, 16 years ago, when he said we couldn’t get back together- And he married me! =)
There was that time he said we couldn’t get a dog- I got an American Bulldog!
There was that time he said we couldn’t have a sandbox- Wes got one for his second birthday!
There was that time he said we would never get a pool- Parties at my place on hot summer afternoons!
You get the point! I do this to my poor husband all the time! Time can only tell how this one will turn out! Most of the things I am able to convince him to do are a good idea, wind up being a decent idea. I’m not gonna lie, this decision I might have to eat some of my words.
Those fuzzy, soft, loving bunnies shit like crazy, and it’s stressing me out a little! Our outdoor cage will be here in a couple of days, but they are still only 9 weeks old, and it makes me nervous to put them outside. I just don’t love having them inside.
It has only been a week, and I’m still adjusting. To be honest, I think we all are. Dylan has been amazing when it comes time to clean out their cage, which is every other day, and he is on top of water and food duties with his little brother.
The perks of why we got the bunny have been sweet- I have seen the boys, on many occasions, laying on the floor in their room in front of the cage singing, or talking, or nose scratching. We let them out to play and it’s the cutest thing. The baby loves them and the other two crack me up over it.
At the end of the day, I got my way times 2, and 3 out of 5 of us have been sick since they moved in, but I’m still convinced it’s a cold, and it will pass.
The things we do for our loves!
