As Moms, we always plan and pack lunch for our kids or loved ones, but it is just as important to take time to pack yourself a good lunch for the day. No matter if you work outside the home, volunteer or run the house, we all need to eat lunch. I, personally, love packing my lunch in the morning, even if I don’t need to leave the house. It gives you control over what you eat, and it is ready to go come lunch time (in the fridge or your lunch bag), so you can avoid eating too much and/or stopping for food to go.
- Choose a lunchbox
Everyone prefers a different lunchbox. I love my Monbento Original bento box. It works for me and is big enough to hold food for a good lunch. All the lunches you see in my post today are packed in my Monbento, but really any lunchbox at home will do – even a Glad container!
Packed in this Monbento Original bento box are an egg salad sandwich (cut in thirds to fit), apple slices, almonds, dried cranberries, pepper slices, a Lara bar and a Babybel cheese.
- Make Lunch Fun!
Take the time to make your lunch look fun. You first eat with your eyes! This lunch was for St. Patrick’s Day and packed was: homemade maccaroni salad, a green salad with cucumbers, green grapes and a corn beef and lettuce sandwich. I added some St. Patrick’s day cupcake decorations.
- Make Lunch Nutritious
Packed here is a green salad with corn, avocado and grape tomato, dried cranberries, almonds and an avocado and cream cheese bagel. (Dressing for the salad was packed separately).
I love brunch, so this bento box is packed with a strawberry and blueberry salad drizzled with honey, plain yogurt with homemade coconut granola, a homemade egg muffin and some cucumber slices and grape tomatoes.
- Use those Dinner Leftovers
My kids love potstickers and wontons and when I make them, I always make enough for leftovers.
Packed here are: leftover potstickers with soy sauce dip, a carrot and cucumber salad (lemon and oil dressing not shown), apple slices and cookie butter to dip.
I am currently working on more “Monbento for Mama” posts.
