If you have ever run a half marathon, or been a spectator at a half marathon, you have undoubtedly seen the sign:
Well, I have decided to make 2016 the year I go full crazy…bumping up my running to conquer the full marathon!
I have been considering it for a while; recently I pulled the trigger and registered. However, this is the first time I am publicly committing myself to running a full marathon in 2016!
I have never felt particularly inspired to run a full marathon. I am not a competitive runner, I do not stress about pace or track my miles, but I have a nagging suspicion this will all change.
My main reason for tackling this new challenge is two-fold: First, I feel like it is the next logical step in my running journey. After ten (or so) halves, two Ragnars and countless 5Ks it is the next big event to add to my running resume. Secondly, I decided to run a race in my home state of VT with some awesome and inspirational running friends. It seems like the stars have aligned and if there is ever a time for me to stick my toe into the marathon pool, now is it!
Since registering, I have been going back and forth with my emotions, from super excited to incredibly nervous, to down right dreadful. Some mornings, after what feels like a struggle to get in 6 miles, I could easily talk myself out of accomplishing my marathon goal. But lucky for me I have a team of committed and talented ladies to back me up.
So, here I go…let the 2016 marathon training commence!
Please feel free to leave any advice, good luck wishes, or comments about what a crazy idea this is!
