Last week a friend of mine asked me what was on my Christmas list. I watched his reaction as I noted I didn’t have a Christmas list. Disbelief! That’s right, not one time this year have I hinted, implied or straight up said, “here is what I would like for Christmas!” And yet, not one time have I been asked…
As easy as it would be for me to turn this post into a woe-is-me diatribe about how over-worked moms are during the holidays, I choose to be proactive. So here it is…last minute ideas to bring your LOVA good tidings of cheer.
Give the gift of time. Time to sit and do nothing. Time to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. Time to get a pedicure or manicure without rushing out the door to make ballet pick up. Time to take a shower without being interrogated. Time to enjoy a drink without worrying about finishing up a homework challenge. Time to lay in bed on a Sunday morning to get some extra beauty rest.
Give your lady the gift of healing. You know those firm glutes you admire throughout the year? The sculpted calves…who knows, maybe you’re a shoulder guy…either way, you know what you’re into, so take the time to give back. No doubt, your lady is on-the-go, running, climbing, biking, or giving piggy backs around the park, she’s active. Being active can mean sore and achy muscles that need to be healed. So…put away your phone, don’t stress about your fantasy football team, and show your lady the attention she deserves. Get in there, use your strong hand muscles and get the job done.
Give her the gift of respect. You know how your laundry always seem to put itself away and dinner is made when you get home from work? It’s not actually Santa who makes it all happen, so show some appreciation. Respect the hard work, attention to detail and straight up awesomeness of your lady. Make a surprise dinner, do a week’s worth of laundry, clean the house and show some respect.
While time, healing hands and respect are awesome, they are not frivolous indulgences, which all awesome ladies deserve at Christmas. Bring on the romance! I mean real, sexy romance. Don’t hold back…trust me, it will be enjoyed more than a pair of new flannel PJs or a cooking gadget you read about while perusing QVC.
To the dudes out there who have it all together, good for you, well done! Here is my only parting piece of advice…the selfie stick. I recently discovered, at our blogger-nasty-Christmas-swap, the selfie stick is the item everyone wants to be gifted, but no one actually wants to buy. So go ahead, slip it in her stocking.
And… if all else fails, these earrings.
4 shopping days left, enjoy!
