This time of year is awesome for busting out the inner fashionista that we all have hiding somewhere and letting loose. The possibilities are endless and the accessories are even better! It’s my favorite time of year to see what I can come up with, using everything and anything in my closet. Apparently, my 3-year-old shares this same passion, only with a little more flare and a little less care.
Three has been an amazing age to experience, with its usual and expected challenges, but none the less a great ride thus far. It’s been incredible to see her BIG personality really grow and, where appropriate, I’ve decided to take the back seat and let it expand even further. After days and weeks of my house turning into a battle zone over getting her dressed every morning, I decided it was time to wave the white flag and let it go.
As part of her bedtime routine, she is now responsible for picking out her outfit for the next day. It’s given her a sense of independence and reduced the, “I don’t want to wear that!” screams and fights. It’s also shown me that just because Glamour says you shouldn’t match stripes with polka-dots doesn’t mean that you can’t totally rock it! And who said a scarf was supposed to only go around your neck or that layering 3 skirts on top of each other wasn’t “in”?
Seeing what this adventurous, open-minded and independent little girl comes up with to wear every day is awesome and brings a whole new meaning to fashionista!
So before you go for the same old “safe” outfit, think about taking a ride on the wild side by rocking something new, fun and creative!! You never know, you might just start the next Glamour trend!
