(Title of post must be read to the tune of Cornershop’s “Brimful of Asha“)
Disclaimer: This post is in support of a local mama with a cute little shop on Etsy. She did not ask for a positive review or compensate me, but she did send me one of her belts to review and keep. And she threw in some offers for our readers!
I don’t want to freak you out, but it’s already November. It’s already November. I am a last-minute everything person. Studying for tests, buying presents, finishing projects, paying bills – it all comes at the very last opportunity to successfully accomplish whatever it is I have to do. I am shocked to report that I have made a few early Christmas purchases that should be arriving this week. But don’t worry – I will blissfully relax in the glow of having started a task way too early for so long that I will be scrambling (and renewing my Amazon Prime membership) the last week of December to get all the shopping done.
The problem with being a last minute person is missing out on opportunities that with a little planning or forethought would be possible. And Etsy always ranks up there for me. Etsy has so many wonderful artisans and interesting pieces – but you can’t find something on December 23rd and expect to give it as a gift on December 25th. In large part because many things on Etsy are handmade. By someone likely with a family, maybe a “real” job, and probably a whole lot of other stuff going on between which she is using her crafty skills to delight the world and earn a living. And she is probably not linked in to the Amazon delivery juggernaut by which you merely think of purchasing an object, and it is in your driveway in 15 minutes.
In addition to being a last-minute everything person, I am also a first-one-in-line-for-freebies person. Enter Jaclyn, a local mother (from Avon) who created the Etsy shop BrimmerBaby to sell the super-cute preppy belts and picture-perfect outfits she makes. She offered to provide one of us bloggers with one of her belts in exchange for a review. Of course I was the first one to raise my hand and so here is my review.
Jaclyn sent us this Child Alligator Belt:
Belts are half of the BrimmerBaby collection. The other half includes shirts/onesies with preppy faux collars and cuffs attached. I really dig this one:
Now, the third critical piece of information about me is that I’m not fancy. When I looked for things to pair that super cute belt with, I was at a bit of a loss. I also did this “photo shoot” before the colder weather set in. Check out the belt in action:
In all honesty, a belt on a toddler is not the most practical thing. I would say something about potty training here, but I think this Clorox commercial does it best. We did end up having a “situation” on that photo shoot day, and I hurriedly washed the belt with other clothes on a normal cycle before checking the BrimmerBaby website (which clearly advises to hand wash items) – and the belt survived just fine. It would probably look better with plain khakis and a nicer shirt. I’d like to think we were fashionably “mixing prints.” In my humble opinion, if you would dare take my fashion advice after seeing my pictures, BrimmerBaby belts and shirts would be perfect for school and/or professional pictures. Like fancy pictures for your holiday cards (it’s November!). And just in time, Jaclyn is extending some offers to our Runitlikeamom family:
