Fall is one of my favorite times of the year! The crispness of the air, the indian summers, making homemade pies and recipes our loved ones passed down. I know some are about spring being a rebirth, but I think fall is my rebirth. The golden hues of autumn call to me to get up and get out with my kiddos!
What to do? What to do? Well, there’s a bunch!!! Here are 5 Rizza Family Rules for having some Fall Fun and where we like to go!
Rule 1 – Hit up as many local Fairs as you can and support your local communities! Check out Main Street and have an adventure of it!!
Rule 2 – Don’t take a pregnant lady Apple picking…30lbs of apples is 30 lbs of apples…so hit up your local Orchards! We’re blessed to have Bishops and Lyman nearby for a taste of Fall! They always have great family events happening too!! Check out their facebook and websites out!!
Rule 3 – Get you and your family in the kitchen and eat as many Fall veggies and fruits as possible…think squash, apples, pears, OH MY! (And so many more to add to the list)
Rule 4 – Spend as much time as possible enjoying the outdoors! Walks at Chatfield Hollow, Hammonassett, and even in our own backyard are pretty spectacular this time of year.
Rule 5 – Celebrate Halloween with wild abandon! It may not be everyone’s holiday, but boy it can be fun dressing up with your kids and heading out to a great gathering. Essex always has a wonderful parade, Saybrook Point Inn puts on Pumpkins by the Point…check out your local chamber and see what fun they have happening too!!!
