Summer schedules can be crazy, but it’s also a great time to get in those races you’ve been thinking about. Check out our Race of the Month schedule for July, August, and September and consider joining us! Or, if you have a favorite race this summer (or fall), let us know. We’re always looking to join our fellow Runit moms in new adventures.
Our July race takes place in Rhode Island along beautiful Narragansett Bay. The half marathon starts at 7:00am and the 5k starts at 7:15am at the historic Pierce Memorial Stadium. The course is an out and back, first heading east on Veterans Memorial Parkway and returning on the East Bay Bikepath with panoramic views of Narragansett Bay and the downtown Providence skyline. The race features chip timing, finisher medals, live bands along the course and a free concert at the finish. Online registration closes on 7/16 and is $65 for the half and $29 for the 5k. Onsite registration and packet pick-up is Saturday 7/18 from noon-4pm and costs $70 for the half and $33 for the 5k.
I’m personally looking forward to this one- What’s not to like about a 5K race through the Elm City that ends in a brew fest?! The downside for some is that children and pets are not allowed at this race, but as a mom who strives for balance in her life, I’m totally ok with that. My husband will actually be running as well, so we’ll be using it as a chance to get in a run AND a date. The race starts at 12:00pm at Edgewood Park and the festival goes from 12:30-4:00pm. Registration is $55 to do both the 5k and the brew fest, or $45 to skip the running and get right to drinking, and $15 fee for designated drivers (note all fees increase $10 if you register onsite). And if sampling beer from 20+ breweries isn’t enough, you get a pint glass, a medal, and delicious food from vendors while you listen to live music. Sold!
The 2015 Hogsback Half Marathon is the RRCA Connecticut Half Marathon State Championship. In addition to traditional awards, they will be recognizing the male and female RRCA Half-Marathon State Champions- how exciting?! The race takes place at 9:00am (8:15am if you anticipate running for more than 2 hours and 45 minutes), complete with bib tag timing, tech shirts, six water and two gel stations, custom piggie finisher medals and post-race raffle prizes. Packet pick-up is Friday 9/25 in West Hartford or the morning of starting at 7:00am. The course is described as a “Fast USATF certified course with a 100 foot net elevation decrease. You’ll run on country roads through the towns of Riverton, Pleasant Valley, Hartland and Colebrook.” Registration is currently $50, going up to $55 in August. The race sold out the past two years so if you’re interested, book it now!
Still looking for more options?
We featured these two races last year, and we had such a good time we’re planning on running them again. Where are you running this summer?
