Treats are not just for Halloween. Summer is a perfect time for treats! For your kids, summer likely means a more relaxed schedule. Summer camps and extra time with family. Ice cream and frozen pops. Swimming and fireworks. But, treats are not just for kids! It can be easy to focus solely on the kids during the summertime so please remember to treat yourself amidst all the summer chaos. Don’t forget to savor some sweetness for you (the mom who makes it all happen) this summer!
Runit moms deserve at least a few special treats for all their summer fun planning. Moms deserve something for all the running around they do to ensure their kids remember childhood summers of hazy, hot days filled with happiness. I’m not talking about swinging by the drive-thru for a dunkin iced coffee once a day (that’s a given). I’m talking about true treats – something that you will most likely have to make time for and may have to save some extra cash for. Something special JUST FOR YOU. Trust me when I say, just do it! You deserve an amazing summer as much as your babies do!
Short on ideas of how to treat yourself? No worries, I have a few thoughts if you can’t decide on something special just for you!
Get a pedicure (or 3) – I don’t mean getting just one pedi at the beginning of the summer. Make time for at least 3 over the course of the summer. You will not only get some down time to relax and be pampered, but your toes will look pretty too!
New kicks – It’s fall marathon training time so for me, this was a no brainer. I am loving my new ASICS Gel-Kayano 21 sneakers!
Swim in style – You will have more fun splashing around with the fam if you feel confident in a fabulous new swimsuit. Take some time to go shopping and try on a variety swimsuits to find one that you truly love.
Read a good book (or several) – There is something about sitting outside and reading in the summertime. Whether reading at the beach or in the evening on the porch, escaping into a good book (even for 20 minutes) is wonderful. Ask around for recommendations and load up your kindle ASAP!
Indulge in dessert – Don’t spend too much time calorie counting in the summer. Everything is more relaxed during the summer months and passing up summer treats is no fun at all. Say yes to strawberry shortcake and Kahlua cream pie. Just make sure to add some extra cardio to your next workout to help even things out!
Yay for summertime! Yay for summer treats!
