My kids are all about the activities as you all have read in my later posts. One thing I love is how we embrace what Connecticut has to offer seasonally. Farms, beaches, museums, orchards, aquariums are many places we hold dear. Loving our local means so much to us. Hidden gems such as Roses Orchard in North Branford have been an oasis for us. Between the animals, and warm apple pie a La mode my family is in summer and autumn heaven! I must not forget to mention their homemade frozen custard that I have dreams over – it is that good.
The Mystic Aquarium has been a wonderful venue for us.The kids love hitting up the touch tanks and checking out the sea lion show. It’s always a place we keep coming back to and even had the chance of seeing Santa, which was a great experience. Seeing Mystic during the holidays definitely puts you in the spirit. We hope to get to the Seaport this summer. A new adventure to try!
Biking/walking/running Chatfield Hollow or Hammonasset State Park is always a great time too. I always know I will have two nappers at the end of one of our forest/beach runs. Taking in the salty air, or the trickling streams always seems to put me at ease, and my kids love to have a some kind of adventure along the way. We have some great friends who have inspired us to hike more, and I am so glad they did! The views are unforgettable, and the time you have with your family you cannot replace.
Whether it’s flying a kite at a new park, or checking out a different beach, find something new to do. Make a bucket list and be sure to check off each adventure with a huge red mark. We have made ours, and I am pretty stoked to see what the summer brings. Lets bring on the sunshine, smell of fresh cut grass, backyard BBQ’s, food truck festivals, concerts, and good times with great family and friends!
Let’s all spring into summer!
