They have said so many wonderful things about you. The Facebook posts are pouring in, the out-stretched prayers, the words of comfort to your children during this difficult time. You would never have wanted things to go this way. You never wanted to hear you had any medical concerns, you never wanted to think about troubled news with your health – who does?
When you went into the hospital on Friday morning, you knew there would be risks. I’m sure you wished you were in your kitchen making something delicious, or perhaps making another amazing recipe to share with us on your Facebook page or on Easter.
I remember so many wonderful Sundays spent in your company. I remember talking about jewelry, the weather, your children, your grandchildren. We played cards, drank cold beer, and smoked Marlboro cigarettes together. We shared so many holiday dinners together. I remember sneaking you more cook books at work so Richard didn’t see you bringing more home! You used the word “freaking” like five times in a sentence! You had this amazing laugh and you also had the best hugs. You would listen to every word others shared with you in a conversation.
This past Sunday, in the quiet comfort of your children and your high school sweetheart, you made peace with this world. You took your last breath and reunited with so many who have gone before you.
Kathie, you have left an imprint on many hearts and touched many souls! You made each day count, you made everyone you came in contact with feel comfortable and you never asked for anything in return. You loved deeply, and it showed!
I just want you to know that I will personally help watch out for your loved ones who you have regretfully left behind. I wish things could have been different for you – I wish you could still be here talking about peanut butter bars and sharing your infectious laughter with us. But for reasons unknown to those who love you, your journey on earth has come to an end.
Please know that you will never be forgotten. You will never be far from our minds, and tonight as I lay in bed and close my eyes, I hope to see you in my dreams.
Good night. Rest easy, my dear friend.
