Just as I sat down to write this post, I was on one of my favorite websites ordering toddler bedding for our son’s new “big boy bed.” Before I was pregnant with my first, I occasionally ordered items from Amazon, mostly books. Yet, it was not until I was pregnant that I discovered just how much Amazon had to offer. When researching baby products, I found they had everything I was looking for at discounted prices with real customer reviews, making the selection process incredibly easy. In fact, it was so inclusive and so user-friendly that I created my baby shower registry on Amazon. But it wasn’t until after my son was born that I truly fell in love with Amazon and became what is known as an “Amazon Mom.”
I am sure many reading this regularly order from Amazon, but do you really take advantage of what they have to offer? We started ordering everything from Amazon. Diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, which as an Amazon Mom, we purchased at 20% off! Not only were we saving money, but we were avoiding the hassle of going to the store (we all know how difficult it can be to drag a newborn around with you while running errands). Running errands in Miami, with or without baby, is always a pain, from the traffic to the $3.00 parking charges. I will do anything to avoid a run to Walgreen’s, Publix or Target. Plus, with our Amazon Prime membership, I knew I would have the items at my door in two days, no shipping rates. I am pretty sure every toy, every kid’s plate, every sippy cup, every everything my son uses (except his clothes, although they sell those too) is from Amazon.
In spending more time on the site, I later discovered Amazon’s Subscribe and Save feature, and now, the majority of our toiletries and groceries come from Amazon on a scheduled delivery system. Paper towels, toilet paper, cereal, granola bars, snacks, organic baby food pouches, shampoo, toothpaste, floss, deodorant, etc. all ordered on Amazon. I love that we never run out of anything anymore. Just as one product is getting low, I receive an email from our front desk concierge that we have another delivery from Amazon.
Now that I am pregnant again, I am spending a lot of time on Amazon creating a “wish list” for baby number 2. Since I likely will not be having a shower for this baby and we do not know the sex, I have an entire list of products I want to order once he or she arrives. As soon as we find out the sex of the baby I am ready to press “submit order” and I know all my items will be at our doorstep likely before I am discharged from the hospital.
We’ve even been having some fun with the Amazon shipping boxes. Last weekend my husband turned this box into a rocket ship for our son, and we spent the morning painting it and playing in it!
So, Amazon, I just want to say I am so glad I found you! Thank you for making a busy mom’s life a little bit easier. I love not having to spend my weekends running from store to store, and I love saving money even more. I am pretty sure once I have this baby, I will be signing up for your wine delivery feature as well. Are you an Amazon Mom?
