High Fives! We made it! 2014 another holiday season done and another year behind us and officially in the books! The year brought us many triumphs and victories and also many tears and much sadness; but friends we are blessed to breathe the air of 2015 and I say CHEERS TO US! Those who know me are aware I am not down with the traditional sense of the new years resolution, I find the whole process defeating from the start. Come up with this amazing idea that is going change your ever being and restore your grip on this earth (come on that’s how you feel) and yet the one thing that no one considers in this whole situation is the most vital piece of the puzzle; your brain, sitting there at the front of the class like Hermonie Granger with hand raised high and jumping out of her seat “pick me, pick me, I know I know”, and we pass her over every time.
For 2015, I resolve to pick your brain, ha-ha, and I challenge you to decide now to do the things in your life that resonate with your passions, your loves and your dreams that truly make you happy. I read a quote recently that said something like this, do three things in life that “makes you money, that keeps you healthy and supports your hobbies”; how dope is that! Basically what that means to me is do things in life, as much as you are able to, that supports your values in work, your health (woot woot) and in play. Let me say here that I completely recognize that we all may not have our dream jobs and let’s be honest we may have the skills that pay the bills in these situations, if this is the case, find small pockets of space where you can be grateful and paying the bills is something to be really grateful for!!!!
I also would like to reserve a slot for 2015 for my two friends reality and practical. This morning while pursing Facebook I came across an amazing Huffington Post article titled “21 Things to Stop Giving a S**t about in 2015” please check it out here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/01/things-to-stop-caring-about-in-2015_n_6390470.html?ncid=fcbklnkushpmg00000046
I often talk to my closet girlfriends about the very things in this article!!!! I don’t know if it’s being in my 40’s (HOLLER LADIES) or what, but I’m clearly over it. Period, the end and as the title suggest, I am going to stop giving a s**t. I love wearing yoga pants – they are practical and they are comfy, going to bed early with my two-year old with Good Night Moon stuck to my forehead, long live Queen Bey and I could care less if my socks match especially if I’m wearing boots and no one is going to see my socks anyway!!! Hello reality!!! This is my reality and I will not apologize for it and in fact I love it. It’s sometimes messy, especially on a Friday after a workweek, but it’s our mess, like it our leave.
Finally, in 2015, ask yourself this, what makes you happy? Find your center and go for it. Early morning walks in the quiet make me happy. Coffee makes me happy. Sleeping kids at 8pm make me very happy. Date night makes me happy. Seeing the hubby laugh makes me happy. Fire-pits, happy. Wine, yes, happy. Really amazing, fresh whole foods, happy. A bowl of lemons makes me happy. Whole Foods, the store, happy. Yoga makes me happy. Amazing friends, who never judge me, make me really happy. Work that fulfills me makes me happy. Runitlikeamom, makes me happy. What about you? We do what we can in this topsy turvy life, enjoy it, every messy second. Happy New Year!!!!
