“Being a mom has made me so tired. And happy.” Tina Fey
Even with having last week off from posting a blog entry, I find myself mired in, well, LIFE. Everything is so crazyhecticbusyoverwhelming for so many of us right now, right?
Several times over the past week, I’ve had my hands poised above my keyboard, about to tackle the subject of bullying, children’s books, or gratitude (I’m still going to tackle those subjects, just not this week). And then the grand jury decision regarding the Eric Garner case happened, which kind of derailed my brain entirely. And I decided that this week, I needed to stick to the KISS principle, otherwise I might subject you all to a disjointed, unorganized, hours long stream-of-consciousness rant about Absolutely Everything.
So instead of opining on any of the above subjects, I will share with you a Facebook status that I wrote about two years ago, in the spirit of the holiday season. If you are a parent, I have a feeling you might be able to relate.
10 times “Stop bugging your sister!” is what I said
9 times more until it got through their heads
8 attempts at “redirection” until I saw red
7 graham crackers in the deli line, that’s what they were fed
6 times tried to start the car, the battery was dead
5 “assembly required” items at home, how I did dread
4 books times 2 were what I read
3 times back and forth to the potty they were led
2 happy girls tucked into their big girl beds
1 last kiss on each sleepy head…
And now this tired Momma is ready for a big ass glass of wine!
Can you relate? How do you keep your sanity at this time of the year?
