Today we highlight one of our more delicious sponsors, the “fusion meets classic technique” restaurant Cafe Routier. Read on to find out why we love them so much…and enter for a chance to win a $100 gift card so you can go see for yourself!
Cafe Routier is a hot spot in the quiet shoreline town of Westbrook, CT. Located on route one, just around the corner from the outlets and the beach, Cafe Routier is the place to go for a bite to eat in the Mood Lounge, an intimate or formal experience in the dining room, or just a drink at the swanky bar. Here are a few reasons to check them out:
The Food: The three panel menu, offering regional, seasonal and specialty dishes, will satisfy even the most diverse palates. As someone who considers herself a loyal patron, I can say I’ve eaten most items on the menu, and I have never been disappointed. From specialty items like “Mom’s Meatloaf” to “Moules Mariniere” and the ever popular and simply stated, “House Made Fries” (with a truffle infused dipping sauce, I mean…come on), it’s virtually impossible not to leave feeling sated and content. If you’re craving something a bit more adventurous, check out their regional menu and explore your taste buds with something like their Argentinian inspired grill-finished, chimichurri short ribs over sweet potato and roasted vegetable hash. Or, if you’re a fan of farm to table, start off with the Autumn salad topped with crispy shallots and goat cheese, and follow with the Pumpkin-Leek soup and roasted east coast oysters with bacon leek butter. Yum.
The People: The staff at Cafe Routier are wonderful. Whether it’s the greeting you get from Randy as you walk through the door, the friendly and sweet service you’re graced with by Melissa, or the delicious drink you get with a smile from Tim, these people alone make you want to come back. Even when the restaurant is busy (which is often), they make you feel welcome and well attended. And I have to say, the owner of this masterpiece, Brian P, is more of the same; a rare find in a tough industry.
The Atmosphere: Now maybe it’s just because the service is great and the food is delicious, but the atmosphere at Cafe Routier is one of a kind. The Mood Lounge has a kind of nostalgic feel, with palpitating jazz swimming through the speakers as you relax into the couch or sit on the edge of your chair. It offers the chance to be deep in conversation, or to simply enjoy the sounds and people around you. While I favor the lounge and bar area, the formal dining room is perfect for both large parties and intimate affairs. I was lucky enough to have my bridal shower hosted here, and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had (and it’s not just because I drank lots of prosecco and got to open gifts). It was a perfect venue for a wonderful day.
Is that enough to interest you? If not, let’s try this: Comment below or leave some love on our Facebook page to be entered into the drawing for a $100 gift card to Cafe Routier!
