Oh beautiful, for spacious skies…if you haven’t visited one of America’s beloved National Parks, you are truly missing out! Let me be the one to give you the fabulous idea of planning a trip to Yellowstone, Yosemite, Glacier or any one of our amazing parks. These fascinating places offer up endless opportunities to explore natural wonders, view abundant wildlife, learn important history, and see the world from a new perspective.
Warning: visiting a national park will be unlike any vacation you’ve ever known. You won’t find white sandy beaches and flat screen televisions. You won’t find swanky modern hotel rooms and four star dining. You may not come home relaxed if you log as many trail miles as my husband and I did during our recent trip to Glacier. However, you will come home feeling alive and refreshed and with memories of an amazing and unique trip of a lifetime.
Pre-kids, my husband and I visited Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and we are definitely planning to take our family there once everyone is old enough. We want to be able to do a decent amount of hiking with the kids and we want to be certain that everyone is old enough to stay safe by not stepping too close to steep cliffs and not walking into the bubbling hot springs.
This past summer, my husband and I spent some time at Glacier National Park by ourselves. When we were planning our trip to Glacier, I kept thinking about how majestic Yellowstone had been and I wondered how Glacier would compare to the amazing sites and sounds of our country’s first true National Park. I can now say that Glacier is equally as impressive. Seeing a massive glacier with your own eyes is an experience like no other!
A few other parks on our National Park To Do List are: Yosemite, Olympic, Grand Canyon, and Denali.
If you are still not convinced, here are a few pictures from our August 2014 adventure to Glacier:
So what are you waiting for? Think outside the Disney Box. Introduce your kids to amazing things. Visit one of our National Parks. You won’t be sorry, I promise.
What National Parks have you visited? What parks are on your family’s bucket list?
