Gone are the days of week-long birthday celebrations complete with house parties, casino nights and maybe even some tabletop dancing. Instead we plan dinners that either qualify for the early bird special so we’ll be fresh for our early morning long-run the next day, or we meet for drinks and dessert after 8pm when we can slip out as the little ones doze. I’m going to speak for most of us moms and say we wouldn’t want it any other way, most of the time. But still, it’s fun to remember those crazy celebrations.
In honor of one of my best friend’s birthdays today, I thought I would reflect on some of our favorites over the past few years, pre and post children…and even one with a bun in the oven.

Triple Golden Year
So here’s to you birthday mamas! This year, may your birthday be filled with the frosting-covered smiling faces of your children, the love of your family, the support of your running sneakers, and the laughter of your friends.
