Staying organized this school year is going to be challenging to say the least. I will have a junior in one high school, a freshman in another high school and a 5th grader in another school. Each school has a different first day and a different starting and ending time.
Each child is doing a different sport with one doing two sports (that was my decision so I am not complaining). My youngest has done baseball for several seasons and this fall he will be adding soccer to his list of activities.
Each child also has their own additional activities such as driver’s education, mock trial, Model UN, religious education and volunteering.
I struggle with having such a busy schedule and think back to when I was growing up. Life seemed to be much easier and not nearly as jam packed. I am not sure if that is the perspective I have because I was a kid or if that was really how it was. I am pretty sure it was the latter. There is so much pressure on kids today, especially the older kids, to get good grades, be the best on the team and to participate in many different extracurricular activities. I think it is a great thing to be exposed to different people and to do activities but to do them because you want to not because it will get you into a good college.
My goal this school year is to be really organized so all of this is not stressful. My other goal is to still try to fit in some unstructured family time where we can all be together.
I would love some feedback on how you stay organized during the school year.
